Mr. Hatip, before we begin with the interview, please introduce yourself in 3-4 sentences briefly.
_Özkan Hatip [öh]: Open minded, in love with life.

Question 1: What was your first job after graduating?
_öh: Field architect in a construction site of textile factory in Çorlu, Tekirdağ region of Turkey.

Question 2: Why should clients in any case work together with an architect?
_öh: In order to cut the expenses caused by disorder of construction phase; even to foresee the design in its first steps before construction period by the help of architect’s skills.

Question 3: How would you describe your architectural style?
_öh: Pure, let nature inside the design, simple. Purity is much complex than sophisticated forms.

Question 4: Which book or film has impressed you in the last time?
_öh: Saving Private Rayn

Question 5: Who are your role models and why?
_öh: Mimar Sinan (Ottoman Empire Chief Architect), Frank Loyd Wright, Tadao Ando.
Their pure and simple design attracts me; they all let the nature inside their designs.

Question 6: Is the client king or should he be guided to his luck by an architect?
_öh: Shoul de be guided by an architect.

Question 7: Which subject in course of studies best prepared you for your profession?
_öh: Sketches of brain storms that let me create an even forms and ideas; plus field works that has an opportunity to see the design to come true.

Question 8: From Paul Valéry comes the term „architecture is music made in stone.“ What referees to the question, what music you’re currently happy to hear?
_öh: Silence of water in mountain lake.

Question 9: Which building would you like to design and why?
_öh: Private home; since it will reflect all aspects of life of human.

Question 10: Architecture is … ?
_öh: … a life itself.

And finally, question 11: What question would you like to ask and whom?
_öh: To a reputable architect; about their tendency on sketching of designs.

I am glad to have you as an non-german speaking architect on my magazine. So I take the opportunity to ask you a few more questions interesting for me and others. How to become an architect in your country?
_öh: Must fulfill 4 year university degree; and enroll to Chamber of Architects, section of UIA in Turkey.

In germany you have to be a member of the architectural chamber to call yourself an architect. Is there any comparable in Turkey?
_öh: Same in Turkey.

What about the current market situation in your place?
_öh: moderate

Are there any special architectual conditions in Turkey?
_öh: Not so many.
